वाल्मीकि रामायण के सुंदरकांड के पहले सर्ग में, जब हनुमान जी समुद्र लाँघने को उछले, तो उनके वेग से पेड़ भी उखड़कर कुछ दूर उनके पीछे चले। ऐसे कम जाने-माने प्रसंग मूल कथा एक मिनट से कम के Shorts में सुनाता है: रामायण, महाभारत, भगवद्गीता, पुराण और प्राचीन भारतीय इतिहास से।

हर बात के साथ बताया जाता है कि वह किस तरह की है: ग्रंथ का कथन [शास्त्र], बाद की परंपरा [परंपरा], किसी विद्वान की व्याख्या [व्याख्या], या स्वतंत्र प्रमाण वाला इतिहास [इतिहास-प्रमाण]। ग्रंथ, संस्करण, कांड या पर्व, सर्ग या अध्याय और श्लोक संख्या हर Short के विवरण में दी जाती है। कोई ग्रंथ-कथा पुरातात्विक प्रमाण बताकर नहीं दिखाई जाती।
